Quilt Entry Instructions

Quilt Show Entry Forms must be submitted with quilt upon drop off.

Quilt Drop Off

Where: Aiken County Historical Museum, 433 Newberry Street SW, Aiken, SC

When: October 22-24, 2015, 10:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.

Eligibility Requirements to Enter a Quilt

The maker of the quilt must live in Aiken County, or be a member of an Aiken County quilt guild. Quilted item must have been made within the last three (3) years. You may choose to have your entry judged or submit it for display only.

Quilt Sleeves Are Required

All bed quilts must have the 4 inch sleeve SEWN onto the back of the quilt for hanging. Any quilt measuring 90 inches or longer MUST have a 4 inch sleeve sewn to the full width of the quilt 86 to 90 inches from the bottom of the quilt, to prevent the bottom edge of the quilt from touching the floor when hung.

Quilt Delivered in a Pillow Case

Each quilt must be submitted in a pillow case (one item per case) with the owners name in a prominent place on the case (writing your name in magic marker on the outside of the pillow case is very helpful).

Quilt Pick Up

Quilts are to be picked up at The Aiken County Historical Museum on November 23 from 10:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Please have a friend pick up the quilt if you are not able to do this yourself. Remember to bring or send your receipt for your item.

Category Designations

Final category designations will be at the discretion of the exhibit committee; categories may be combined or divided to facilitate judging.

Ribbons will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in each category, as appropriate.

Special Awards will include: Best of Show, Best Machine Quilting, Best Hand Quilting, Best Use of Color, Viewers Choice, Judges Choice, Best Use of Theme, Aiken County Historical Museum Staff Choice, and 1st Time Entry (given by Quilters of South Carolina for first time entry in any quilt show).

Quilt Show Reception

There will be a reception for all entrants and their families and friends at the Aiken County Historical Museum on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. 4:30 p.m.
